I put my name in the hat for the Facebook/Cambridge Analytica settlement. There was a part of the form that was looking for start and end dates. On closer reading it was for people who no longer have accounts. Since mine is still currently active, that should be easy enough to confirm.
First gained access to Facebook in 2008. I used to post a lot of updates, every day. Not saying they were great, but a lot closer to stream of consciousness than what I’ve done these last many years
Scrolling back through my Facebook history, learned I quit Friendster and MySpace in 2009.
I did the thing and imported my tweets. I’m owning my history, as mundane as it is. I would like to thank @manton for re-enabling this functionality.

White Glove Delivery: Weasels who will use every opportunity to not do what you’ve paid handsomely for them to do. If it only happened once or twice I’d chalk it up to bad actors. I’m finding it is consistent behavior across providers. The delivery personnel give no shits.
I’m thinking about The Curse of Knowledge. Wondering how best to elevate my team members at work. But also wondering if I really understand what I’m talking about. I have experiences and successes, but I’m not sure how to transmit effectively.
I think the gravest error we’ve made as Americans is to assume that legal decisions are in any way permanent, or that they settle any discussion. A court case is not always the end, and may only reflect the quality of the argument and the context in which it is argued.
Also working on transitioning email newsletters to Inoreader. And unsubscribing from stuff I’m not feeling anymore. With respect to email inbox governance, I am my own worst enemy.
I’ve realized now that, due to a series of well-meaning decisions, I’ve probably cost myself decades of email archives. While I may be able to recover some of it, part of me is just wanting to move on. Additionally, going to be saving more of my life outside of email. Hard lesson.

I think I learned my lesson. Twice in the last week Power Nap burned through all my battery to the point where my 2019 MacBook won’t boot for about a half hour. Assuming I can get back in before I forget, will be turning Power Nap off.
The In Memoriam segments get harder to watch, every year
Surgery complete. Magnetic joysticks from GuliKit, buttons from ExtremeRate, plus tools and manuals from iFixit. I wish the buttons were a better color match to the Joycons, but it is uniquely mine, now.
Tonight I proved I can operate on a Joy-Con controller successfully. You need three hands, bright light, and a magnifier. I had two hands and insufficient light for my 54-year-old eyes. Between that and an IFixit tutorial, I replaced a joystick and changed to all-white buttons.
