CD Re-Rip Discoveries:

  1. Folks have helped themselves to a few. Have found empty jewel cases and gaps.
  2. So much necessary clean-up. Lots of duplicate tracks stemming from a drive recovery several years ago
  3. I adore Sigur Rós so much that I had already ingested the CDs with a lossless conversion

If I had a small fortune, I’d buy a bunch of CD Jewel Cases, plus archival inner and outer album sleeves. In general, stuff ages well, but some stuff is still pretty fragile.

I alphabetize my music collections, by artist, then album title. This re-rip project also helps me correct “shelving” errors. Some were minor errors putting discs back. Others have been teaching moments. If I learn something new, it’s a good day.

Made it to “r” in the alphabet before finally deciding to go scortched-earth on the iTunes Re-Rip Project: Capture any ratings meta-data. Delete album. Rip fresh as lossless. Add rating data back. Correct album artwork. Far less frustration this way. Yes, and by iTunes, I do mean Apple Music.

I bet there are going to be a lot of meetings at Netflix after this.

Killed my Evernote account after 15 years. I’m not recommending it for others, mind you. For myself I have to say it was critical for my work style for a long time. I haven’t needed to use it the same way, or as much. I’m trying now to work inside of the base Apple tools, which continue to improve.

Street sweeper cleaning up leaves this morning on my street in St. Paul. Things one gets to notice on a quiet day off.

A shoutout to White Crane Remodelling, whose work on my home earned them a silver in the whole house remodelling category by NARI MN.

I don’t know who was responsible for picking the music for the series Letterkenny, but I keep Shazam ready. It’s full of really amazing music I have never heard before. It’s kicking my ass and reminding me I am alive. Jared Keeso, if that was you? Thank you.
