Troubleshooting an AV system is easily as vexing as anything else in technology. I did get my system working again, though. My receiver isn’t new enough to do HDMI switching, but it does have optical-in. So, right now, my TV does the source switching and sends audio to the receiver over the optical link. I noted the XFinity box has mutiple inputs. Has anyone used the cable box for AV switching and if so, how did you like the results?

This saddens me deeply, so I am giving you that out before you read this or anything else I write about music. Today I am all about Recoil’s 2000 album, Liquid. I am a big fan of the spoken-word delivery of most of the tracks, and a big fan of the electronica that is the basis of it all—though in the style of music it is most certainly a product of its time.

If it’s physically impossible for me to configure my device to allow TPM firmware updates @infineon @hp @microsoft how am I supposed to apply the updates you supply to fix vulnerabilities? Why are there devices on my machine I cannot control or secure?

Today I learned, or maybe I relearned, that the reason there aren’t Word or Excel templates for an hourly look at your week’s schedule is because Outlook offers that as one of the ways to print your own calendar. On the Mac, I found the version of the weekly calendar from the Calendar app to be superior to the wierd, unfinished output in the first-ring version of Outlook 2016 I’m running there.
